Yalobusha County was originally occupied by Native Americans of the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribes; the word "yalobusha" is a Native American word meaning "tadpole place."

Hooopla Service Change for Minors

Yalobusha County Public Library System makes hoopla digital services available free to library patrons through the MS Library Commission. Due to a state law, Mississippi Code §39-2-3-25, materials in hoopla will no longer be available to minors under age 18 effective 7/1/2023.
